  • SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

    Ibis Books accepts completed, original manuscripts. 

    Submissions should be via e-mail and should follow the guidelines below.

    Once you have reviewed the guidelines, send your submission to jason@jasoncannon.art

  • WHAT KIND OF STORY TO SUBMIT

    Ibis Books specifically welcomes books about the art and craft of writing and performance. We publish books by storytellers, for storytellers, about storytelling.

    Specifically this means memoirs, plays/dramatic literature, non-fiction manuscripts that focus on the how and why of storytelling in all its forms, and books that explore creativity, inspiration, authenticity, and courage.

  • YOUR EMAIL SHOULD INCLUDE:

    Author’s name, complete contact information, and pen name (if applicable).

    A brief (100 words max) Author biography.

    The manuscript’s title, genre, and word count.

    Any ideas on the role of the Author in promoting and marketing the book.

    Attached to the e-mail as a Word doc or pdf should be the following: a synopsis of 750 words max and the first 30 pages of the manuscript.

  • THE REVIEW PROCESS

    The review process takes approximately 90 days.

    You will receive a response within 30 days of receipt of the initial submission.

    Do not contact Ibis Books during the review process.

    Submissions not conforming to these guidelines will not be considered for publication.

  • ROYALTIES

    Ibis Books operates under a profit-sharing model. There is no advance offered.

    Therefore there will be no need for a book to “earn out” before the Author becomes entitled to royalties.

    Ibis Books and the Author will split profits 50-50 from the first copy sold.

    Should Ibis Books decide to publish the Manuscript, the Author will receive a contract outlining the entire publishing agreement.
