FAQs

  • Ibis Books is not Amazon, or Barnes and Noble.

We are here for storytellers of all stripes.

Those who work on the page and those who work on the stage.

Playwrights, public speakers, and memoirists especially.

We are dedicated to the art and craft of writing and performance.

Our offerings are lean, focused, and intentional.

Storytelling takes authenticity, practice, and courage.

That's what our books are all about.

  • The ibis is an animal sacred to Thoth, the Egyptian god of learning, inventor of language, and scribe to the gods.

Ibises heavily populate the Gulf Coast of Florida, where Ibis Books was founded.

And ibises are legendary for their courage. They are the last to evacuate before a hurricane, and the first to return once the storm has passed.

  • When you purchase an Ibis ebook, you will receive an email from Squarespace with a link to download the EPUB file, which you can then forward to/open in any e-reader.

  • Purchases are handled through Squarespace, a highly reputable and trustworthy e-commerce platform. When you complete your checkout, Squarespace will send you an email with a link to download the EPUB file. All files are DRM-free, meaning they’re yours forever and you can read them on any compatible e-reader app or device.

  • Thank you for shopping direct from Ibis Books! It really helps the independent authors on our roster, as they receive a much larger portion of the purchase price when you buy direct than they do when you buy from other online stores. We also get paid within hours or days rather than having to wait for months, and that helps us create more books!

  • Currently, Ibis only sells ebooks and audiobooks from our website. We do sell paperbacks at in-person events, but you can also order Ibis paperbacks print-on-demand from Amazon.

  • Yes! Ibis Books accepts submissions of complete manuscripts from independent authors. We operate on a profit share model, splitting profits 50-50 from first copy sold. You can review our submission guidelines HERE.
